10 Ways To Receive A Servant Of God - By Apostle Pride Sibiya

There are many examples in the Bible of how we can receive servants of God. Here, I will give just ten (10).

We must receive a servant of God as:

1. An Angel Of God:
“And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God...” (Galatians 4:14). In the scriptures servants of God are synonymous with angels (Revelation 2:8) and are even given a better description that celestial beings: “Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire” (Psalm 104:4)

2. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself:
“…but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.”(Galatians 4:14).

When Paul first arrived in Galatia he was seen and received as an angel of God. More to this they received him as Jesus Christ himself…and he did not rebuke them.

3. A God-Sent Blessing:
“And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” (Romans 10:15). Whilst angels have been excluded from the salvation process of humanity, God so elevated his servants that he included them in the plan: “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14).

Servants of God are sent. They are sent by God to be a blessing to you: “When God raised up His servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by the turning each of you from your wicked ways” (Acts 3:26 N.I.V)

4. God’s Gift:
“Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men…And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers” (Ephesians 4:8,11).

A servant of God is a gift from God by Jesus Christ.

5. Shepherds Of Your Soul
“…for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you” (Hebrews 13:17). The job of a shepherd is hard yet easier than that of a spiritual shepherd. The shepherd of a soul should be highly valued because your soul is more important than your cattle. Providing a spiritual covering is a great responsibility because it entails standing in the gap: “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it but I found non”(Ezekiel 22:30).

6. The Lord’s Anointed
“Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut” (Isaiah 45:1).

God calls his servants “anointed.” An anointed person is one who has been endowed by the Spirit of God and special graces and abilities to do the extraordinary through God’s supernatural power. Receive the servants of God as such and you will see God using your pastor to do perform serious miracles.

7. An Emissary From, and of, Heaven
“There was a man sent from God, whose name was John” (John 1:6). All of Israel knew that John was the son of Zechariah and Elizabeth. If they wrote their own book about him they would talk of him as one coming from his home place. However according to the Word of God, John came from God. Your pastor does not come from Bulawayo but from God. Receive him as such.

8. Bearers of Life and Peace
“My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name” (Malachi 2:4-5). Even in the Old Testament when you met a Levite you were not just meeting “one of those religious people.” You were meeting a man who carries God’s covenant of life and peace. Servants of God are carriers of His covenant, not of death and violence.

9. Spiritual Parents
“I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel” (1 Corinthians 4:14-15)

When Elijah was departing from the earth Elisha gave us a glimpse into his relationship with his senior. It was not a pastor/congregant relationship, rather a father/son one: “And Elisha saw it, and he cried, my father, my father…” (2 Kings 2:12)

10. Chariots Of your Life and The Horsemen.
“And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof…” (2 Kings 2:12).

Elisha saw his father as the strength of God that moved the nation of Israel. He sang a song of honour for his father. Some think Elisha said this only because of the appearance of horses and chariots of fire. Two reasons negate this: The horsemen and chariots seen as Elijah is taken are not of Israel but from heaven and; when Elisha himself died, there was not appearance of horses and chariots yet the Bible says: “Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof” (2 Kings 13:14).
It is clear the song had nothing to do with the heavenly horses and chariots but with a man of God.

Receive a servant of God in the right way and you will receive the power to become what God intended you to become. Only those that receive him are given the power to become.
